They are working to improve the Greenway surface north of the Greenway gate off from Fowlerville Road in Fowlerville, New York. When they completed an erosion project in that area, they poured a loose material over the Greenway surface. This material is very difficult to bike, run, or walk on.
With the help of DOT, the Genesee crew took a steam roller to the trail while it was still damp from our recent rains. As you can see in the picture on the left, that single action hardened the trail significantly. The elevated, looser material on the left is what it used to be. Notice how my foot sinks easily in the top right picture when I step on the side of the trail. The bottom right picture captures some previous tire tracks and a deer crossing the trail with my prints next to them. Although we have made some progress, we still do not recommend biking over it at this time. Signage warning of the conditions will be going up next week. 8/26/16
