Rockville Lake Dam is at Greenway mile 79, (N42 18.468 W78 09.021) From Belfast – Traveling on Route 305 South, go past the intersection of Lake Rd/Little John Rd that crosses Route 305. Turn right on the 2nd Lake Rd. which is directly across from Ramsey Road. Follow it to the Rockville Lake dam at the end of dirt road (formerly Havens Road) Park there.
We will cross Havens Road to the trailhead and travel north along the trail. This hike has a babbling brook running along the first section of trail. We will cross a footbridge and further along on the left is the Old Irish Cemetery. Remnants of the old canal are on the right. In season, there are wild flowers to enjoy.
This is the last hike for the year for the Southern Tier Greenway Hikers so don’t miss it. Do plan on joining other Genesee Valley Greenway State Park and Friends events such as the September 30 ribbon cutting in in Chili.
