Genesee Valley Greenway

The Genesee Valley Greenway is one of hundreds of greenways being developed across the nation along old canals, abandoned rail beds, and riverbanks. It passes through scenic woodlands, river and stream valleys, rolling farmlands, steep gorges, and historic villages located in sixteen towns in Monroe, Livingston, Wyoming, Allegany, and Cattaraugus counties in New York State.

Trail Notes:

  • Because of the Geneseo Air Show the Greenway will be closed to use between 8 AM and 6 PM Friday, Saturday and Sunday(July 11, 12, 13) on that section between Chandler Road and Cuylerville.
  • The DEC will be trapping for Emerald Ash Borer, an exotic, invasive insect, beginning in early June. Trail users may see blue triangular shaped 'sticky'
traps hanging from trees along the Greenway.

Genesee Valley Greenway Trail User Survey

Who uses the Genesee Valley Greenway?
Where do they come from?
Where and on what do they spend their money while engaging in trail-related activities?

The NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic preservation (OPRHP) has designed a Trail Survey to answer these important questions for us.  Survey forms will be available at six sites along the Greenway from June 1 through July 31.  Please complete the survey after your next visit to the trail.  If you do not find a survey form on the trail, please download the form hereThank You for participating in our survey.
