Saturday, July 8, 10 am, GVGSP Historic Interpretive Hike Series (Wegmans Passport Hike #4) in Wheatland
This hike is located just south of the Village of Scottsville. Take River Road South from the Village, or north from Route 20. Turn east onto Quaker Road (Rt. 251). The trailhead is approximately 1⁄4 mile ahead (N43 00.316 W77 44.429). Meet at the trailhead.
Hike 3.1 miles on easy, flat trail with a mixed surface to Wadsworth Junction where abutments for the Lehigh Valley Black Diamond Railroad trestle carried trains over the Pennsylvania tracks and on top of the bridge across the Genesee River. The guide will provide history of the Town of Wheatland and also point out historic canal and railroad features and interesting natural features along the way.
This hike is one of 14 hikes in the Wegmans Passport to Wellness Program. Completion of hikes in this series makes the trail user eligible for Wegmans grocery coupons or a NYS Parks Empire Passport.
